Predicting Weather


How do meteorologists predict seasonal weather? This site on predicting the weather connected with The National Science Foundation provides teachers and students with information that could be used in a variety of ways for research in an integrated unit.

Once entering the site there is an interactive report from the National Science Foundation, as well as perspective on how the U.S. economy is affected by weather conditions, and how some businesses attempt to mitigate the effects. The report also highlights a new seasonal forecast model that scientists believe will improve accuracy. Graphs and maps help illustrate the key concepts.

The “Classroom Resources” page provides a variety of resources for regions of the world, astronomy, computing, earth & the environment, and many other topics.
